8th grade offers up to four different options to play football depending on number of registrants and interest level. Jr. Wolfpack football (JWF) offers an unrestricted team with no restrictions on weight or who can carry the ball. In addition, JWF offers a restricted weight team where no participants in the league can weigh over 130 lbs. Both of these teams play in the North Suburban League (NSL) and are 11-player full contact football played on a regulation size field. These teams will typically practice 4 times per week with an approximate start time of 6pm and games are usually on the weekends. Practices begin at the start of August with the regular season game schedule beginning a month later.
As an alternative to full contact football, JWF also offers a NFL flag program. This team(s) plays 7 on 7 flag football in an indoor league with the Woodbury Athletic Association. The fourth option is for 8th graders to participate in Middle School football offered by Community Education. This is an after school program with more details available at www.cecool.com. Players are only allowed to participate on one of the four above mentioned teams.
