Cottage Grove, MN – All eyes will be on Hamlet Park on Monday night for the first games in the Junior Wolfpack Mite’s Flag Football League’s inaugural season. Six teams will kick off the first season in the new league on Monday night while the remaining four teams will begin their seasons on Tuesday.
Mites Director, Dan Smoot, and Assistant to the Mites Director, Dave Blumberg, stressfully labored late into the evening on Friday night and came up with 10 teams that are ready to play some football.
The teams will be led by the following coaches:
Players will be notified at practice on Tuesday of what team they are on. They will receive their jerseys and will practice as a team for the first time.
"Several factors were considered when selecting the teams ... " said Coach Smoot. Asst Director Blumberg further elaborated that "each team was divided up as fairly as possible and scientific analysis and Excel pivot tables were used in our analysis."
When all the teams were decided upon, we reviewed our findings with NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper, Jr, and NFL editor from the Pioneer Press, John Pluym, and they both stated that they project every team in the league to be 5-5, but other factors may influence wins and losses....
Coaches Joel Karnitz and Dave Runion stated that they are anxious to see who is on their team so they can begin to implement their offense while Coach Smoot was excited to say that he can see a state champion in 2022 or 2023.

Pictures will take place from 5:00 to 5:40. This should allow everyone to participate in pictures, the scrimmage and/or other events.
